I have had this tucked away for some time. A wallet that was given to my grandfather in 1947 -- and has stayed in the box since then. Bob Lucas was a good friend of his. I do not know when the dealership closed but the Studebaker stopped production in 1963. When my current wallet gives way I will start using this one.

What do you mean T-mon, you're going to use it? It's got my name on it! I had that specially made for me when I was 1 yr. old. I've been waiting all this time for delivery. That is my name as well as Honky.

It's actually Studebaker Cars. My cousin's name is Trucks.
Actually it is Robert Lucas on my birth certificate, but not on I.D.'s I use unless entering U.S. territory(sometimes). I found years ago that it is easier to slip under the wire than wait for the gate to be opened. I also call it going "steerage class" but much cheaper.
I will send a word out to the border patrol -- just so I don't lose my wallet.
For which country? Didn't think about that, did you? If you have a flight at say 7:30 from an island & their customs & immigration doesn't open until 7: Am, what do you do? Come in a day before & pay tourist prices to stay over nite or arrive by boat at 6: AM, step off onto the dock & take a bus to the airport? This example is actually for a close U.S. port. Revelation, isn't it? I can't help but laugh each time!

Thanks epson233 -- I am at the point where I have collected too many things, most of small value like this wallet. So I have decided to celebrate these little gifts by putting them to use. I think grandpa would be proud...
Be sure to treat it properly with whatever is recommended today in "McDonald's Land" so that it doesn't crack & self-destroy in short order. It's not exactly a high-line collector's item, so why not? I'm behind you. If cured well originally, it should be good today.
Got to go to Guadeloupe & I don't think I have a Chichita Banana sticker to use in my passport. Later.

Thanks eye -- there were a few things that went by the wayside when I was young and failed to recognize the significance of them... heavy sigh.
That is pretty young to be able to recognize artistic value -- at that age the only thing I was hauling away was junk food from the corner store! My parents let go of many amazing items now that I look back -- but then again at the time value was much more of a utilitarian thing. If you did not use it then why have it? The other variable is that now before we decide to chuck something out there is always the internet to see if there is any value in it first.
