Hello, I bought this at online auction, from Omaha Nebraska, cost was $26.00 and shipping was $22.00! So $48.00 total. It was apart some but I glued it back together where it was loose. Also polished it. It looked grey when it arrived. The black and white squares are each cut separately. The box is hand carved also. The King is 5 inches tall. Each piece is hand carved. The brass is even decorated. It is much nicer than I imagines. It is pre Mao, I am sure. The Communist also destroyed many Western games and things. Mao also said "Anything old or made by one man is obsolete and should be destroyed" Next time my son is home from University, I will try to beat him in chess! If anyone knows history or age of this, please let me know! Thanks for looking!
