My husband and I were playing with our metal detector, trying to see if we could find my missing ring. After hours of chasing trash (ie, pull tabs off of sodas, soda cans, lids, etc) we found this item. WTF is it!?

I found this website that discusses the handsaw medallions of H. Disston & Sons. It looks as though your find was made after 1871 when they changed from Son to Sons.

There was a rumor that when my Great Grandpa Jim died, all of the kids started fighting over his old tools. My grandfather buried them. Wonder if this is part of them?
