These were collected in the early to mid 50's and displayed proudly until a fire occurred in the basement where they were stored. They were then boxed up and stored for decades, and passed on to the owner's nephew.
Some tough and diverse labels here, I imagine they bought these brands while traveling on vacation. The original owner was based In Michigan, as evidenced by the MI. brands throughout.
Whats unusual is that they were kept FULL! An urban (er, is it bar-room?) myth exists that FULL vessels have increased value over empty
cans or bottles. This is not true. Bottles pose no problem, but beer in cans is relentless. Combined with gravity and age, it will eventually begin seeping out the seam, wrecking the can and your shelving.
Thanks to a helpful collector who lived near Detroit, I was able to share in this bountiful beer-booty. He made a visit and we both added some unique old cans to our collections. Yes,he drained them first!
