This striking clock is a Leon Hatot original ATO clock from the middle to late 20's or early 30's. The face or dial of the clock features his trade mark ATO (middle three letters of his last name) and the spider webbing in the middle of the dial. The dial is made out of pewter.

The clock with the owls is 10 1/2 inches length 3" wide 16 1/2" height. The garnitures on each side of the clock are 5 1/4" length 3 1/4" wide 6" height. One of the garnitures has a crack and was repaired at one time in it's past. The battery compartment for this clock is still intact and has not been removed, I will try to leave it and work another battery compartment into the back. The movement is marked with serial number 49521 and features Leon Hatot's logo stamped on the movement.

ATO clocks are battery operated and were the pre-cursor to out modern quartz clocks. It has a magnetic pendulum that swings through electrically charged coils that cause it to swing and run the clock. The clock is still operational and is running beautifully on a D cell battery.

When I bought the clock set, I thought the owl finial was spelter, they aren't, the metal is heavy and considering and the opulence of the clock is either silver or silver plated.

The clock is completely regulated and on the mantel, keeps excellent time. I regulated it with an Atomic clock.
