Thanks for the loves mustangtony and outstanding info BHock45, you obviously know your stuff. So maybe a caviar bowl, and not for sugar.
thanks petey....looks like you can date your piece 1893-1915 most likely closer to 1915. Do you see any faded letters anywhere on the outside? That would help you determine the type of metal used (silver plate over alpacca or britannia metal). As far as what it is used for....what is the size? could it be a salt? thanks for the comment, I am a newcomer, but maybe someone else can verify my opinions. Take care!
stunning and very beautiful petey:)

Hi, BHock45 and Petey. BHock, you're the man on Norblin!!! Re caviar or salt - I think probably not - unless there were also supplied a glass liner, as salt tarnishes and pits silver, and caviar is high in salt content, isn't it? : )
mikkochristmas11...i was thinking the same thing. This would eliminate a sugar bowl too?
Hi, BHock45! No, sir, I think that sugar would be fine in an unlined silver sugar bowl. Aren't most of the sterling sugar bowls unlined? My own (which is not sterling, but only silverplate) has no lining, and despite many years of use, it is pit-free and the silver plating is in excellent condition....Thanks again for teaching us about Norblin! Can't wait to encounter more of your inspired silver researches! : )
