This Victorian Cameo of a Male is one of the most handsomest of Men I have ever seen! I do not know anything about him and if you know who he is ...please let me know! I stare at him all the time! This Man measures 1.70 x 1.10 and there are no hallmarks at all. He is carved on angle and when worn you can see him at all angles. He has a trombone clasp..typical of the French makers. Please let me know your thoughts...

Nice cameo, I agree this brooch is probably French because I have an enameled Limoges brooch also mounted in silver with Marcasites (as yours) and French hallmarks. The tube of trombone type clasp was used at the end of the 19th century and continued to be usedf in Europe through the 1940's.

It seems to be very well made. I would date it to about 1920 or a bit later because marcasite decorated settings were popular then and because of the strong lines of the design, but the carving itself could be earlier.
