This pie table has a label on the underside that reads THIS PIECE WS HAND MADE IN THE WORKSHOP OF CHARAK FURNITURE CO BOLTON.MAFS. IT IS NUMBERED 51, MADE YEAR 1938. It belonged to my husbands aunt and I now have it. It the top can be turned sideways,my only guess was it took up less room or to show off the wood.

Charak Furniture Company - Boston, Mass.
The Charak Furniture Co. of Boston was a leading 20th-century furniture manufacturer of reproductions of traditional Colonial furniture. Charak thrived through the 1920s and unlike many American furniture manufacturers survived the Depression of the 1930s. In the 1950s, the company hired Donald Deskey, a well-known American designer, to create a line of colorful, plastic-laminated modern furniture.
It's a nice example of a snap-top or tilt-top wine table with a pie crust edge. Folds away and shows off the decorated mahogany top. Nice legs too!
