My wife Heather and I love this lamp but we want to know its history . We found it in Heather' great aunts house, Aunt M. told us we could pick something out, before she went to live with her son in Toronto... So the lamp was in a box that was going to the dump . So we did the right thing and saved the plane-lamp and some old 45's of Aunt M's. We asked her about the lamp, but she couldn't remember much about it but she never turned it on because it would get to hot . She said it showed up in the 1950's.. Thats was the end of the story, Aunt M. died in 2004. So we have a Unsolved Mystery... The sticker on the under side of the wing states Tuscan mfg.co.ltd. Portable Electric Lamp. We want to know if its from the U.S. and the Style of the design on the base . Lots of questions ...It stands about 9" from the base .
made of metal covered with chrome , light switch is on the underside of the main body of the plane .org. cord and light bulb inside plane. Its kind of neat, but Aunt M.was right it does get to hot...so we don't turn it on......

This is a Canadian piece. They were only made in Canada. There were several mfg companies that had these pieces, the main one was Metalcraft Mfg Co. , although there were several other companies all in Toronto and Montreal. Possibly a piece that was given to a company who used them for table ornaments. This piece is a made up piece, which I can tell from the base. It has several components that are not original on the base. Usually they were used on airplane ashtray stands and lamps. I have been collecting these all my life, since I seen my first, and I love them. I had no trouble with mine at all. Plus with all the LED lights for hobbies now, they would be easy to light with no heat problems. I have always made my own props for them also.

Happy it turned out to be a Canadian Co. Thanks for all the info. PhilDavidAlexanderMorris we thank you again " cheers"
This site is excellent for led lights. I have bought from them. They have real excellent videos in their site. It really is a good idea to watch as many as you can before you buy. There must be at least 10 videos only about a minute or 2 each and really well explained -- but watch the videos before you order.

I had a mold made from clay, then baked it.
Then poured tin _ or you can use solder also, although there is a lot of filing to do with solder.
