Whoa, boys, It's silent oater star Tom Mix (or is it?) "Tom" is sporting a pair of homemade chaps and an ACTUAL pear next to his cowboy boots so his big size can be determined. I purchased this wrangler at an antique show for a price so low it doesn't matter, but since he was called Tom Mix I'd like to know.
I can't find any big dolls of Tom Mix online. Is this an amateur sales stimulator put in a toy shop? I dunno! All his duds are homemade (and old) and there is on six-shooter made of lead. He WAS a cowboy, as the hard composite boots are attached (as are the hands and noggin) but the body is soft. The kerchief appears to be a found object, and the holster is handmade. The chaps and vest, leather, have cool leather applied stars. He really isn't very cuddly...so I don't think he is a doll. I think some kind of display thing.
So is this Tom Mix, or a city slicker posing as him? I am going to put him on the Collector's Weekly "Show and Tell" pages and call him a unsolved mystery. Someone will know. Was there a commercial trade figure or toy 24 inches tall of Tom Mix?

I believe he is a mannequin and his clothes are made factory or cottage industry for a display . He dates from the 1940's . I can not see his body . Are his legs hard and made of same material as face as well as his body ? I have seen these what we call counter display mannequins in men before and are very desirable . Please let me know what body is made of to be sure . His clothes represented and were stapled in place so that tells me he was a special order for maybe a western clothes store ? Maybe even a cigar co. He is great and could be repaired . Also confirm you can move arms ? I will await your reply . What a magnificent find wow I love him ! If his body is soft then I will know more .
Cool~! Thanks. Yes, the body is soft. Only the head, the boots and the hands are composite, hard material. The body (which you can see on the arms, which do move) are covered in silky material. Thank you!
Here is one made close to yours only as a military man but the face looks so close . Since yours also has a soft body and a mannequin generally has a hard body . I would stay with your's being a special order display doll and possibly buying head from company that made one like this one .
