20 drawer oak cabinet - heavy item!!!
This listing is for a wonderful oak Victorian period printers cabinet. This piece has 20 flat 2” high drawers with each drawer having identical separations for the old fashion steel printing type characters. Most drawers has an original brass plate designed to hold a label identifying its contents and a iron pull. This cabinet is 26' deep, 24 wide and 51.5” tall.

Is this an unusual piece?
Can anyone tell me the age/year of this item?

On the front it has a plate that states "Library Bureau Sole Maker" I don't understand why it has that plate on it. I think it is something to do with printing.

I can't seem to find one on-line to compare it to. If anyone knows of a website that has this item with the plate "Library Bureau Sole Maker" of such please let me know. I saw one similar on this website, but mine has more drawers.

Thanks much
Joan

I see these on line rather regularly lately, even today, especially on auction sites. Should not be too difficult to go to some online auctions to see their takes of the day.

I'm really new at this thing of finding information about antiques.
Can you give me some on-line auction websites?

    thanks

the best for you if you are new is liveauctioneers.com, as they post their results right away, pretty much, they also have an excellent search and are the easiest to use if your not familiar with auction sites on-line.

another good one is auctionzip.com. I see a lot there in auctions photos and they are a very low item cost to high also. On both sites they can notify you if they have items that match your interest. Phil.

thank you SO VERY MUCH. That is VERY helpful. What a great site.
Maybe I'll also be able to find dishes/glassware that I'm trying to categorize. Some over 100 yrs. old.

    again thanks
