V.I.P.Pilot. Royal Visit. RAF Wyton, UK. In addition to my last post of my dads flight suit, I have just found some photos of him when he was a V.I.P. pilot at Royal Air Force Wyton, UK, when HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh arrived to visit the airfield and speak with the pilots and crew. My dads aircraft in the background, the silver polished de havilland devon, one photo shows him just having spoken to His Royal Highness, by his aircraft.

regarding the propeller plane, i remember back in the early 70's there was a small airline called Prinair which used these planes, only they were four engines. can anyone tell me the name of this aircraft? by the way, great pics of the British airman. my old man flew in a F-104 Starfighter from the USAF back in the 70's too, i will look for this pic and post it. ahoy mates, GBY all.

Thanks for looking supervisor, I think the aircraft you saw would be a de Havilland Heron, which was a stretched de Havilland Dove and addition of two more engines. Just to confuse you even more, the de Havilland Devon my dad flew was in fact a de Havilland Dove, but the military version. Looking forward to seeing your photo's.
