Far from the workmanship of 19th Century my friend. The base, animals and Chinese Lotus Leaf carvings are indicative of Republic era or 20th Century. Nonetheless, the material looks pretty good for Chinese Nephrite. Potentially Xinjiang Hetian White Nephrite, but not the top river bed pebble quality because they rarely come in such sizes and tend to have more natural "flaws". Does it have an obvious waxy or oily feel on the surface? Good find. =)
Could be Russian White nephrite as well, not as scarce as the Xinjiang Hetian River Pebbles, but prices are rising as a beautiful alternative. If one wishes to start collecting Chinese Jade, this is a decent example. Not those hideous looking, erotic and severely corroded crap out to deceive the ignorant.
Think the Chinese white jades are an albite plagioclase feldspar mineral. The mutton fat ones tests out as a white beryl. Nice white jade art work.
