I would like to know what this little copper pot with spout is if anyone can tell me. I purchased it at an auction recently. The body is copper and the spout & handle appear to be brass. The spout has a cap on a chain. At the top of the handle is a small ball that you can press like you are pumping. There is a cap that unscrews on the top of the body of this little pot. My husband & I joked about it when we purchased it. We call it our Genie lamp. We are just curious as to what this piece was used for. There is a patent stamp on the bottom, May 12, either '86 or '96. There also appears to be a name or Company name stamped under the patent. It starts with "STER but we cannot read the rest. It is about 6 inches tall & about 9 inches wide

I found some more information on my little "Genie Lamp" on the internet. It is an Alcohol Flagon. You fill it with alchol to add to the alcohol heaters under chafing dishes. It can also be used to add oil to oil lamps. The little knob on the handle you depress to let the oil/alcohol flow through the spout to fill your heater or oil lamp. I found a catalog on the Library of Congress from 1895 showing a one year earlier version of my Flagon which is patented 1895
