I recently added this basket to my small collection of thorn glass. I found this one very unusual because of the stamp being on the inside of the basket instead of the outside. It is a little hard to make out but I believe instead of it saying made in Czechoslavakia it reads A & S or A & G in Czechoslavakia...You be the judge. I will attempt to get a better shot in the morning when the lighting is better. But for now I would love some feedback as to who made this beautiful piece of glass...Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hey JayHow, I'm pretty sure your basket is represented on page 23 of the West Virginia Museum of American Glass, Monograph Number 121. It's a reprint advertisement for Butler Brothers Catalog from October 1930.
Illustration reads as follows:
6 Styles, 6-1/2" high - aver. 5 to 6 inches diam. - three styles mottled green red & orange - three solid red blue and green - fluted and crimped shapes w rustic crystal handles.

Hey JayHow, I look forward to finally speaking with you. Monograph 121 appears to be out of stock but if you see item number 370595585300, Monograph 12, you will have the one to ask. Monograph 12 is very thick and also a great reference but all 1900.
This is a great example is so many ways for me. Never seen a basket with (pointy) hobnail that is marked made in Czechoslovakia. Even the stamp is intriguing, because it is on the inside of the bowl and not on the bottom of the vase which is commonly found. With out a doubt, this is a Bohemian Czech Art Deco Export. The thorn handle has been produced on baskets since the 1890's. Chances are there is more colours in the same shape, but there is other vase shapes to be found in the same colour variation. Love it and it's a Great find, Jay!
Hey JayHow, Were you able to land a copy of Monograph 121? There are some clippings from 121 posted on cw including this one by czechman. You will also see that you're not the only glass researcher without a copy.

charcoal, I was not able to secure the copy of the monograph, funds are too tight around this time of the month, being on a fixed income definely is a definetive downfall to collecting glass.:)
Thanks for the comments czechman, it is a GREAT mark, wish I could find more information on why it was placed on the inside versus the bottom like normally found. Will keep looking for information, but so far, its a slow go.
Hey JayHow, I know what you mean and wish we had an extra copy to send you. I'm no expert but I feel that Monograph 121 is an essential Czech glass reference. I use mine daily and don't understand how some Czech glass experts get around not having it? There must be a similar reference guide or catalog somewhere that most of us are unaware of?
