These Whitefriars square jug, decanter and jug were designed by Harry Powell in 1908. These designs were based on a roman jug that Harry Powell had seen, it was very similar to the claret jug but without the stopper.
Whilst the decanter and claret jug are quite rare, the jug is the only one I have seen and it is not shown in either of the quite comprehensive books on Whitefriars glass. I am afraid I mugged someone on eBay who didn't know what it was, and luckily no other avid collector had seen it.
I have shown another picture of the handle to show how different it is.
