I am pretty sure these are two different models. Please refer to the third picture, the one all the way to the right. The one on the viewer's right hand is the Bezard-Kompass. The one on the left is the one in question. It has a small logo with the letters: S Mc

The German version of the Bézard compass was manufactured by the barometer manufacturer Georg LUFFT located in Stuttgart. Three different logos were used. The most common ones are the letters G & L together with a drawing compass or the Name LUFFT in gothic fonts. A very seldom used one, and probably the oldest of all, features a flat cylindric shape with an axis and the name LUFFT (seen on older barometers and Bézard compasses).

Oh yeah, these work perfectly!!! I don't think they have been opened since the war ended.

Of course you know I would be lurking here. I've never seen one of these but it wouldn't be to usual choice of souvenir to bring back. My guess is a field compass issued to men like the U.S. field compass with a flip up sighting lid. Apparently made to hang around the neck.

Does anyone know the make and model of the all black compass to the left in the last pic? I discovered a lot about old compasses here, it is a great resource to add:
