This is shallow glass bowl from my Mother (b. 1915, d.2012) who had it on a knick knack shelf for as long as I can remember - I'd say @ least 60 yrs. She may have received it from her Mother or another elderly relative-I don't think she received it new. It is irrdescent blue with scalloped edge & fan pattern. It's diameter is about 8 inches. There seems to be mark on bottom of Z & L & shape of small half moon off center also on bottom. Any ideas on maker or any other info appreciated.

It looks like an Ice Blue (color) carnival glass plate. I do not recognize the pattern, but if you can maybe add a drawing of the mark to your pictures, I may be able to tell you more about it. If I am correct, Ice Blue is a desirable color, and plates are one of the most desirable shapes ... could be worth a bit.

Okay ... that helped. Most of the markings you see are what are known as manufacturer's "straw" marks. It's from how the glass is handeled while being made. It is fairly common to find in carnival glass and other depression era glassware.
The only part of your drawing that is a mark is the center circle part. It's an "N" in a circle, and may have a line underneath the "N". This stands for Northwood. the pattern is called "Nippon".
Now, can you please add a picture of the plate / bowl from the side view? I need to see the shape to be sure if it's a plate or bowl. Then I can address potential value.
Actually, I just did a little more research, and found plates supposedly always have a "basketweave" pattern on the back, and bowls are the only ones with the "rib" pattern such as it looks like you have in your pictures. Assuming this is a shallow bowl, the value can be in the $50 - $200 range, but you should do your own verification of that. A plate would have been much more.
The important thing is that it is by Northwood, and the pattern is called "Nippon". You can find several comparables on the internet with that information. Good luck.
Also, be sure to identify the specific color of the bowl. If it is "Aqua", another version of blue, then it can be much more as well. Unfortunately, variations in light blue colors are too difficult to resolve via pictures on the internet.

Well it is Ice Blue, and no problem, Ive only sold about 15 examples of Ice Blue Carnival in the last 3 years and I understand how difficult it is to get good photographs!
Not sure exactly what year but this would have been done in the early 1900 by northwood, so your bowl is easily over 100yrs old. I will warn you about some people on this site being VERY opinionated. One of them left comments on your plate and isnt worth the time of day. Although he has great information and does know his stuff, still he comes across as being a bit rude. Just wanting you to not get discouraged right off the bat by some that prey on the newer people on this site. He did the same thing to me when I first started posting. Made a very crude comment about my father dying, can ya believe it!
