Hi all.... This chair belonged to my great grand parents. Anyone have an idea who it was made by, where and how old it is?
Thanks!

I come from Canada, I see similar ones in my Eatons catalogs from the late 1940's. They were very popular in the Sears catalogs also. I had a set at one time and after I got it home from the auction at which I paid 160.00 found it was surprisingly like new condition. It was vintage but never had been used much. Later on people were fighting me over selling it to them. Got a nice profit. This photo of yours reminds me so much of it, it is a real beauty.

Your chair is similar to a couple of sets I have, couch and club chair which were made by the Pullman Furniture co. You can see them in my collection. I always figured them to be from the 1930s due to the deco design.
    thanks for sharing!

Not a true deco piece but nice none the less. So lucky for you to have this piece. A lot of designs that people consider deco carried on into the 40's and 50's.

Hmmm, Dont know where you draw the line on deco design but check out this site

    http://www.artdecocollection.com/seatingitemssold.htm

It has many pieces similar in design to yours claiming to be from the 1930s ?

I have lived with enough of these plus seen all the catalogs to know what I am talking about, I don't go by sites that sell and claiming art deco is not the same as being. The front arms are very 1940's.

Hi all.....I really think this chair is older than 1940.....it's probably been in our family for close to 100 years.....passed down the generation line....At one time there was a sofa that matched, but was apparently too heavy to move....this chair weighs a ton!!!
