Another item that is very unusual. I have asked around and I cant seem to find anything out about this. This stands about 13 inches high and about 8 inches wide. Both the front and back at the bottom have a curved tray like area. Its made of metal and it appears to be really old. Just the front side has a picture. Also both sides have an opening that is almost the full height of this item. Open top.
If anyone could tell me the value and what it is used for it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
CHRIS.

After many many months of showing this item around by picture and in person, I have yet to determine what this item is. I hope this wont go down in UNSOLVED MYSTERY LAND. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hmm interesting. Okay so it's open on the side?
Hello Vestaswind,
Yes this is open on both sides and the top, and has two curved tray like sections on the lower portion.
Hi, fascinating item, which I just saw! The image does not depict the Washingtons; rather, it is a cropped reproduction of a painting entitled "Carlos IV of Spain and His Family", by Francisco Goya, 1800.
How big is this? When I first looked at it, I wondered if it could be a dispenser of some sort, but I don't see an opening near the curved foot that the photo captures. Are there any holes/slots near the feet, such that would be suitable on a dispenser?
Sorry, I see the dimensions now.
Last comment. Could this be a homemade frame? Observe the underside of the curved foot - does it look finished to you? Is the foot symmetrical on underside?
How about a pen holder?
Last question: Has the image been pasted onto the object, or was it inserted behind the raised rectangular 'frame' element.?
Follows a common tourist postcard, featuring the same cropped image of the same painting. Typical cropping. Good luck!
