DETAILS can really enhance the desirability of antique photographs.
Here is a prime example. The image is a cabinet card that I purchased because of both the dog and newspaper. I would have dated it as the 1890s had it not been for the readability of the newspaper (which allows precise dating).
The paper is the Saturday Globe of Utica, New York and it is dated November 18th 1899!
The central picture is a depiction of Uncle Sam using a telescope to peer into the night sky at a group of "Stars"-- Admiral Dewey is clearly visible!
The titles of articles are "Murder Mystery Cleared" and "Feared the Wrath of God".
The dog is pretty neat too!
