Ulrica Hydman Vallien

Ulrica Margaret Hydman-Vallien , born on March 24th 1938 in Stockholm , a Swedish artist who works primarily with glass and painting . She is famous for its snakes, tulips and wolves on the glass and paintings. She is the daughter of Stig Johan Hydman and Margit Bill Berg-Johansson and husband of artist Bertil . She lives in Åfors, Algutsboda parish in Småland

Education

Ulrica Hydman went to Konstfack in Stockholm where she studied ceramics and glass . Her teacher there was, among other things. a Stig Lindberg . At the College of Arts, she met also her husband Bertil who she married in September 1963. After graduation, they made ??1961-1963 study trips to Mexico and the United States , where they both worked with ceramics. Back in Sweden again offered Bertil job as an artist and designer at Åfors glassworks and soon moved both from Stockholm to the small glassworks place in Småland.

Ulrica Hydman-Vallien live very much up to the concept of all-rounder . Best known is she for its glass and acrylic paintings , but she also produces ceramics, watercolors and textiles . She began as a potter but over the years the mud had to leave room for other forms of expression and its greatest success as an artist she has won as a glass designer.

It would take until 1972 before Ulrica Hydman-Vallien debut as a glass artist. In protest against the conservative industry - who often questioned her bold ideas - she decided to make his debut with the Mouse bowl . The play was meant to be used as exclusive gift, but she decorated glass bowl with a big black rat and the dish was rejected immediately by management and was never put into production. It prevented her not to continue with their own ideas, willing, and it successfully! She is also one of the 50 selected artists around the world who have received the prestigious commission to decorate the British Airways fleet, ranging from aircraft tails to napkins, china, tickets and stationery
