I got these spoons in the other day. I won them at auction, and when they came in I was a little busy so I put them aside. They have an eerie glow to them. They also came with the nice box. Tarnish didn't look right, and it was very very hard to remove. Does anyone recognize this mark???

Each spoon is 5 1/2 inches long and 8 grams in weight. There are no other markings I can make out. I cannot find any info. about the jeweler's name either. Any help would be great.

Hi mikkochristmas11, I did scan through German silver hallmarks. This does not appear to be a silver mark. The crescent and the crown aren't on the spoon. I wonder, maybe this isn't silver? the only mark is

Sorry, can't help on this one. 750 K is often seen on gold. Austrian silver of a certain period was 750 grade. "K" might be a the Jeweler's stamp. Here's a link to the silver forum on 925-1000.com. And below that, a link to an ebay item.

mikkochristmas11....is there any chance these are white gold? If you take a real good close look at picture three it is a mirror like reflection, def. not like 75 percent silver. I do not want to jump to conclusions, but I was thinking the same thing all along, this is a mark seen on gold. They are very very light, only 8 grams each and 5 1/5 inches long??

Hi, BHock! I don't know anything about gold. I don't really care for gold. Gold jewelry flatters many women, but I have never cared for it, so I don't know anything about it. I don't know if it would have come in this case if it were gold. Might have had a more deluxe case then. Hard to say. I DO KNOW THAT I WOULDN'T USE YOUR SILVER TESTING KIT ON THESE. These are to beautiful to damage. Why not post your question to the 925-1000.com Forum? Best wishes for success! : )

I cannot figure out why a jeweler would make gold spoons though. That wouldn't make sense to me.
Hi, BHock! Oh, many persons who make silver items make gold items as well. A very good example - Faberge. I did not mean to suggest that Herr Kraft made these spoons, but that he might have had them made for his firm. He could also have made them himself. Or the "K" could stand for something else. I don't know. Sorry. I have messed up my arms and hands from typing too much. Arms quite swollen now - hurts to bend them - and fingers jerking now from typing. Can't undertake any research or play much on CW for awhile. Would love to help, but can't. Thanks much for your vote of confidence, sir! Just to make sure - I meant to suggest that you NOT use the silver kit on these, but use the silver forum, instead. There are there a couple of instances - perhaps several - in which silver with a 750 mark is discussed. I think that these are silver, not gold, but they might be silverplate, not solid silver, in which case your silver kit might damage them. It is worth remembering that one can often polish silver to this brightness. As for gold, almost no woman I've ever met knows less about gold or jewelry than I. I am a complete fool on gold, and I am only a student of silver - no expert. I enjoyed helping on the Prince Alfons cup and on the J & J. HALL spoon. Always a pleasure to work with the urbane, generous wizard we know as vetraio! Vetraio did by far the finer work on the Prince's cup. I did my better work on the HALL. If you look at my final entry, you will see that Voss tracked the extant HALL spoons and reported on what the major research centers that owned them had found about them. They did not agree with Cowan. We all learn daily. I very much look forward to seeing what you discover about these gorgeous spoons. miKKo the student will commit your solid gains to memory! hey poop! thanks for the idea. I would rather spend the money than destroy valuable items and get iffy at best results. Do they make one that tests silver???
Np bhock!! And yes i think they make them with the ability to test gold and silver but i could be wrong, id google that because thats a good question!
Ya i just tried looking up electronic silver testers and i dont think they make them, i did find some but they didnt describe it well, might be scams or something but they deffinetly make them for gold
