Bought for $40.00 at a flea market last week (haggled down from $180.00). Late 60's Tiesco made violin guitar ( I believe this one was a Heit or Conrad brand). Was missing original bridge, tremolo,tuning keys and nut. Being a lefty, I had to flip it so I installed a Nashville bridge, (the original ones were terrible and were more problems than they were worth, much better now) and installed a Tusq nut. I also installed older tuning keys, will get better ones in the near future. The frets were in real bad shape, someone bashed the strings on the frets leaving big dents on the frets, luckily it probably wasn't played very much because there was plenty of meat left on the frets to shave them way down to avoid an expensive re-fret which would have left this guitar an art piece instead of a playable instrument. With some leveling, re-crowning,polishing and lots of hoping, the guitar is playable. Even though this is a plywood guitar, and has a very unique sound and if you are looking for that garage rock sound, this is it. I love these old Japanese guitars, not the best quality but very cool and fun to play.
