THE MURRINE PROCESS FIRST APPEARED IN THE MIDEAST MORE THAN 4000 YEARS AGO AND WAS REVIVED BY THE VENETIAN GLASSMAKERS ON MURANO IN THE EARLY 16TH CENTURY.
THEREFORE, FOLLOWING THE USUAL MARKET ROUTE, NOW ALL MURRINE IS ROUTINELY CLASSIFIED AS ITALIAN GLASS. OR SO I WAS TOLD BY MEMBERS OF MY GLASS CLUB WHENEVER I TRIED TO IDENTIFIED IT AS CZECH.
HOWEVER, WE NOW KNOW THE CZECHS COULD NOT SEE AN ATTRACTIVE DESIGN WITHOUT APPROPRIATING IT AND IMPROVING ON IT. THEY CREATED A SERIES OF STUNNING MURRINE LINES DURING THE CZECH DECO EXPORT ERA, MOSTLY DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH KRALIK.
THIS VASE, FOR I JUST DID A PARTIAL POSTING, IS ONE OF THE FEW MURRINES IN MY COLLECTION. I RECEIVED IT YESTERDAY NIGHT. THESE ARE NEW PICTURES. IT IS 9" TALL. OTHER CW POSTINGS IN THE SAME DECOR ARE AVAILABLE.
