    This was my uncles and I know he was born in 1940 The gun has Maverick on it and seems to work fine. The holster is worn but what wouldn't be at this age?

      A lot of the old western tv shows in the 1940-60s...Lone Ranger, Have Gun Will Travel, Maverick, Hopalong Cassidy, produced items like these. Maverick the tv show ran from 1957-62, so I would think the gun would be from that time period, although that would mean your uncle was 17-22 then.
