Bought these about 20 years ago at a little shop that specialized in Native American pottery. I know they are not old. They have a sandy texture.

The designs are made from colored sand, google "Navajo sand painting" and you'll see some ones on canvas or board that they make. I'm not sure if they're Navajo or not, but thats where the idea for them came from. They're probably from America though, not Mexico
