This is a WW1 era RPPC (AZO stamp box) of three US soldiers with three Renault FT tanks. The tanks all show a camo paint pattern, so they may have actully seen combat.

The Renault FT was developed in 1917, with the majority being produced in 1918. The French made about 3,600 of these, of which a little over 500 were used by American Forces.

General Patton's US Light Tank Brigade was entirely equipped with this tank and they saw battle at St Mihiel and Meuse- Argonne.

It is unusual to see RPPCs of these early tanks.

Amber, Two officers were big proponents of tank warfare at the opening of WWI. The brash, agressive one was chosen to command our tanks in battle in France. The one who was good at logistics and administration was assigned to run the new tank school in the U.S. Without WWI combat experience, the administrative one believed his military career was ruined. The brash one of course was Patton. The administrator was Eisenhower:

Yes, I'm learning that. I've always thought that you need a mix of brash and quiet to get anything done : )
