Slave-to-g…
(18 items)

I bought this barber chair a few years ago from a garage sale. We slowly restored it bit by bit. Almost finished but circumstances changed and it won't be completed now but will eventually find a new home.

The only thing we know about it is that it was supposed to be one of the original chairs from the first Barber shop in our area. I have searched the internet to try and find out anything I can, but have come up empty.

If anyone could help identify it, that would be wonderful :)

There's the 388 BC play by Aristophanes Plutus the god of Riches.
    http://www.munseys.com/diskone/plutus.htm

"All the barber shops are buzzing with the news, by Heracles! They're all talking ..... Chairs? What chairs? Broken old crock pots! Where do we knead our dough?"

A classical reference for the throne of 'gossip'? Sudden Forune? why? How?

    Then off to a Forum?
    http://serbagunamarine.com/antique-barber-chairs-forum.html

"Plutus himself, That knows the tinct and multiplying medicine, Hath not in nature's mystery more science. Than I have in this ring."
    All's Well that ends Well. (V. 3)

My sister had one, not sure of her make, wanted to sell it to me, but turned it down at the time. Looked similar to this photo.
