Three brass trench art shells that span two World Wars.

Center shell is a WW1 era shell that has been hammered with a typical oak leaf motif. The background of the shell has been worked and aged to look similar to bark.

Left shell is a very unusual acid etched shell from WW2. Typically the WW2 craftsmanship is of a lower quality than WW1 era and acid etching is rarely found.

Right shell is another WW2 era shell that has a commemorative work of the rescue of the crew from the USS Sqaulus. The Squalis sank in 1939; was raised and renamed the Sailfish. She served throughout WW2.

Reproduction of these images is prohibited.

Wow! These are amazing! When I saw them I thought, is that a bullet??? Sure enough, spent but still. I used to load shells since I was a kid. I have never seen this done before. I'm glad I got to see these Scott!

Thanks passion. They are actually large Artillery shell cases-- similar to a bullet just significantly larger.

Be sure to check out my other items, as I have hundreds of trench art postings.

Here are three trench art postings of small bullets/ casings that may be of interest:
