The brass was black when received! I cleaned (with ketchup!) organic good way! and saw pyramids, camel, etc. It is very light, maybe for racing, I do not think it was made for tourist as the interlocking joints go the length to the bottom for strength, (see photo), and rawhide is cured or tight as a drum, can play music on it! Makes good sound! The prayer rug I bought years ago for $5.00 at thrift store. It has 400 knots per inch and is wool. I do not know what country it is from any help appreciated. thanks Don
