This item is solid silver - hallmarked London 1912. The maker's mark led me to Reid & Sons of London though apparently they operated in Newcastle too.
It is 4.5" long with a sharp pointed end but no sharp edges or cutting blade. It looks like an item of cutlery or tableware. There is no scoop or bowl to the end - it is a smooth curve leading to a very sharp point.
I have no idea what it is for or its use - does anyone out there know?

hello and welcome to cw by the way. I love this piece and will certainly try to help you with its function!

Do you think you could give a close up picture or a description of the hallmarks you see? I only see a Reid and Sons of Newcastly. I do not think it is a skewer, actually it looks like it would be used to do some kind of scraping. Hopefully AR8Jason or vetraio50 will see this I am sure one of them will know the function.

Could it be a butter pick?
