hi, i think this box is from the industrial revollution era in the 40s
but not sure. it is solid oak with dove tailed joints. 5 drawer design with upper tray and locking front door when it's closed.
could anyone tell me who made it, or what its worth? thanks, john

that's what i thought, the price is about where i thought too! thanks!

That is a common pattern for machinist's tool boxes so I'm sure there were many different makers, I have one made by Stanley.

Those fan shaped handle cleats were used by Star Chest out of Chicago Ill.

I just bought a box that has two Craftsman metal decals and the lock says Union Steel Chest Corporation. It has the seven drawer configuration with metal bottoms so I assume this post war.Does anyone know if I am correction my assumption?

In addition to my description the top lid has the mirror so the workers could check their eyes and has the original green felt and the drawers have small elongated pulls and the Craftsman decals are located on the front drawer cover and the bottom interior drawer and all metal including lock corners and latches are nickel.
