I found this at a small thrift shop. I thought it was interesting and possibly an tool used for measuring. At careful examination it had no # on it. Looked up the Co. and they don't make them anymore only large ones. I would like to know if anyone knows exactly what this tool might be. Is it a shoe splitter for horses?? Is it old?

Pexto calipers for measuring - multiple uses as carpenters, machinists and blacksmiths tools
Dividers. Used to measure out a fixed interval, among other uses.
if I recall from my childhood and seeing smithies use these calipers, they check the hooves as they are trimming for shoeing to make sure that they are the same length on each side.
