Greetings from wintery Finland.
A while ago I bought cheaply (in my view) radomly a box where I think was a sewing machine. Because I bought it from local flee market without a key I couldn´t open it. I just pay 20€ of it so I tought it will be enough cheap risk to take. As you can see from photos there were a pretty nice sewing machine. There is a plate trademark for Scgutz-Marke and I think the machine itself is Durkopp?? Am I right? I have been looking these sewing m. from google, but one thing is making me crazy. On the foot (and I mean on it stand) is this metal plate (as seen silver color) like a letter "G" or "g".? Is there any meaning or is it just a decoration? Also on it side is serial number plate. Can I find out this serial number somehow cause I cannot find a real specific number like singer has. Or is there any of those? On that plate is just numbers like 9-150-200 aso.
Other question might be harder. I try to sew with it but I cannot get this working. My problem is bobbin. I try to find an aswer how to put the string properly in it. My bobbing is like half of the shape of bullet. Using google/youtube I can find videos/helps for bobbins shape of "full bullet". Mine is like only half of it. When I swe my string from bobbing wont find its way to up. (I totally hope you got this. I give my sorries if my writings are not clear as they should be :)

Marko : That looks like a very nice machine . I can not tell you much about this machine . However make sure that your needle is in the machine correctly with the flat side at the top of the needle to the right . The needle has a groove down one side and that is the side the thread ( string ) should come down and into the needle , from left to right . Also try turning the bobbin the other way in the shuttle .If you do not have the machine threaded correctly that could be why it is not picking up the bobbin thread . Also the needle may be the wrong one for your machine .

Thank you so much for giving a good answer. Its possible that my needle could be wrong. I took it from my old lotus singer 66k cause this machine was missing needle and believe or not I dont know what kind of needle I should order. I looked from ebay but there is so many different options to choose from. This bobbin is really hard to understand. And I mean how to put the string like it should be threaded. I just found helps for this full size bullet shaped bobbin. Not like this one. But try to do my best to find a solution. Lucky my singer is working great so I can still sew as much as I want. Love the old feeling while using foot bedal to run it - no elecricity.. :)
But if anybody else have educational words to write I am more tham happy to read them. Also to solve what my sewing machine is, when and where, I am more than glad to here any suggestion..

moh85 : I have seen shuttle bobbins like yours on a website called Treadle On . You have to join the group but it is free . People there only use treadle or hand crank machines like yours . Someone there may be able to answer your questions . The address is : treadleon.net
The people there are very friendly and helpful . I hope you find your answers and get your machine up and working . It is a beauty .

Hi Marko,
The machine seems to be a Durkopp High Arm TS. The photos are not very clear. The metal plate with numbers on the pillar, is a guide to needle size and thread size, not serial numbers. The serial number is most likely on the stitch length surround. Here is a manual for a different machine but should be similar enough to help you

No my upper string will make find (quite ofthen) a lower string but now, when Im sewing the stiches are not tight. Hmmm.. Damn I fight whole night trying to fix it. Also I the string jump out from the needle.. I have to admit this is very interesting even if my mind is short.
So keep on giving awesome tips! I will get back to you when having more problems or succesfull happenings :)

moh85 : If the thread ( string ) is looping on the underside of the fabric you are sewing on that means that the top tension of your machine is too loose . If it is looping on the top side of the fabric then the tension on the bobbin is too loose . The top tension and bobbin tension need to be balanced to make a good stitch . I do not see how to adjust the top tension on this machine but I would make sure that the thread ( string ) path was clear and clean of anything . If there are tension disk that the thread ( string ) passes through clean between them by putting a drop of good sewing machine oil between the disk and running a piece of string back and forth a few times between them . If there is lint or a piece of string stuck in there it could be causing your problem .

Yes, I found those tension disk which are front of the machines are can be adjust from the top whit a srew. I made a mistake and oiled this tension plates and now the string is running through it so smootly even if I try to adjust tension (from screw) as hard as possible.
So it is possible to adjust bobbins tension? I think read from sommewhere there should be a screw to do it but in my bobbinn there is not. Or I havent seen it or maybe it is a different way to do it. Also I thought can it be my needle? If my string are way too thin / thick compared for needle. And as I say I took this needle from my old singer 66k cause when I bought this durkopp it didnt have own needle.
But if I think Im pretty sure there is problem with bobbin or with needle. Upper stig line is clear, checked, and those tension plates works so that the string were tight..

moh85 : There should still be some pull on the top string . It should not just pull through without any resistance at all . I would try and dry up some of the oil you put on the disk by running some string through the disk a few times without threading up the machine . I would loosen the tension disk and use a heavier string than what you are sewing with to do this . Then tighten the disk back up and try threading up the machine with the sewing thread . If there is not resistance on the top thread at all there is something wrong with the top tension . It could be that you do not have the machine threaded up correctly or that the tension spring is wore out .
Marko, I believe this machine takes a different needle to the Singer 66. This may be the reason for your problem of missing or loopy stitches.
The right needle may be a 2x1 (Boye 10) or a 12x1 (Boye 23), you may have luck on EBay looking for the Boye needles.
