Hi guys just picked this up on the cheap and was curious what period are we looking at. I think its more or less modern but I'm trying to figure out what branch this would be for and any details related to period or the helmet itself. Labeled with a number 4 which I'm guessing size and it says Helmet Pagst. Thanks any info will help.

Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops or PASGT. The SYSTEM also includes the ballistic vest. It is popularly known as the Kevlar helmet.
It was used by the US Army from the 90s until the mid 2000s, when it was replaced by the lighter MICH helmet.

thanks scott
No problem-- glad to help.
They were good helmets, but you couldn't cook or wash in it (or the MICH) like you could with a steel pot.

These ones offer more protection than the newer ones. My Buddy who served 27 years Army. Has one he took out of a humvee in Iraq. They have been known to stop AK47 rounds according to him. I also know a guy who sells them for $75 ea.
I have seen a couple of direct impacts from rounds. I remember the one guy had pretty bad headaches, but much better than a hole in the head!
