I have always had an infatuation with JIP vases of all kinds. But I have wanted one in this color decor for quite a while. I believe this one was made by the Boston Sandwich Glass Co. Although I am not completely sure of that. I hav compared many of them out there. Hobbs Brockunier made one very similar but the ruffles on theirs had "bumps" raised on the ruffled edges. This vase measures 7"tall x 6 1/2" across the rim x 3" at the base. It looks at first like it might be milkglass but it is not. It has a transparancy to the white glass that is gorgeous in the light but impossible to capture on film. The muscle disorder I have has really been kicking my butt lately and that is why I have not been on CW. I hope all will forgive me for my absence, but hey...I havent given up and Im back now. For a little while longer anyways! Thanks and Enjoy!

I love JIP vases too, and I have them old and new (I have a really nice Lundberg I should post). This one has great shape, and the colors are nicely complementary. Very Nice!

I have id'd the ones with the bumps as Boston Sandwich and not Hobbs, do you have any information that would indicate it was Hobbs? I will post mine but have located as Sandwich glass. Here is a useful webpage for JIPs. http://1st-glass.1st-things.com/articles/jackpulpit.html . There is a possibility that Sandwich did smooth edges also as have seen them id'd that way too. The oxblood is a key but was also done in England. Either way, it is a beautiful piece.

The West Virginia Museum of American Glass, Momograph 121, page 7 shows a very similar JIP vase with this ruffled rim. It's denoted as Imported and was offered in two sizes. The JIP rose bowl example in the adjacent illustration has "bumps" at the rim.
