These are more modern pieces by Weiss. The first is a wonderful butterfly made of black jet glass and the second is a black starfish made of black rhinestones. Both are signed on the back - both are older Weiss pieces. They are both in great condition - they are both japanned which makes them much more dramatic as mourning style pieces. They could both be considered Victorian style but were probably both made in the 1050s. I find it interesting that Weiss emulated the Victorian mourning brooch long after the fashion of wearing mourning brooches had passed. They are both beautiful. The final piece in my group shot is a Juliana black rhinestone brooch.
