I like many here love beautiful glass of any kind. When I go thrifting the glass ware aisle is the first place I go to. I appreciate anything well made as there is so much junk made for the average person (me) that can't afford to buy full price Baccarat or Lalique. So, when I go to a thrift and see an old Anchor Hocking or old Libbeys glass, even if I don't buy it I usually pick the piece up and marvel at it's weight, it's design.
Today was no different. This particular thrift is one of those places you want to go visit in a hazmet suit. It's kind of dirty, disorganized..better for me as it keeps a lot of people away. I find two gorgeous cut glass tumblers. and although I can't see any marks, I know they are quality and decide to rescue them for 25 cents apiece.
Imagine my surprise when I got them home and found they had the old Libbey's name etched into them...so tiny you need a magnifier to see it.
I went to the Libbeys site and am pretty sure they were made 1896 -1910. They have the original Libbeys mark with cut "y" in the circle (edited as I find out more about them)
If someone knows the pattern, PLMK
Thanks
Enjoy!
Today I drove back to the thrift and grabbed (rescued) two others I had left behind..

stunning Geno:)
Thank you..B , what is your secret to taking good glass photos?
turning off the lights and using a very small desk tech lamp with clear wall back round and on a level surface and no flash ,using lcd on the camera.
your very welcome Geno:)
my dad gave me his Canon sx30is and I'm the only person on earth who can take a bad picture with it. Doesn't help that here in Fl bright light is in every room which messes with the camera. I will try your way thank you
