Many people know about Consolidated Glass Company's Ruba Rombic line, but here is something related that few know about. Nicolas Kopp originally worked at Consolidated Glass Company in Coraopolis PA as their "color man." In that capacity, he was responsible for the ingredients in "glass batches" to produce the outstanding colors that Consolidated made, including an outstanding true red.
Nicolas Kopp left Consolidated and founded his own company, Kopp Glass Incorporated. When Consolidated introduced their famous Ruba Rombic line in January 1928 it caused a sensation. Kopp Glass Incorporated soon followed with their Art Deco line which was called "Modernistic" in the original catalogs. Red and black are rare in this line and pieces with silver applied are very rare.

I love the Modernistic line from Kopp glass and have several pieces of it in my own collection. The powder box seems to be the most common piece that I've seen. It's very deco, and of course, much more affordable than Ruba Rombic.

      Hi munciepots!

I am coming to you to ask for some help/comments on a piece? TallCakes suggested I contact you; I have a piece I posted which changes color, and a couple of people indicated it reminds them of Ruba Rombic?? It is a purple dog/holder for something? Changes to blue? Any help would be Greatly appreciated! Happy New Year!
