I saw this on shopgoodwill a couple of months ago. I am guessing from the mirror and the font used its 1930-40s. I usually wont buy there as the shipping is as costly as sending something to Mars..ridiculous.
Anyway, I spot this old cobalt mirror up there and I fell hard..in love!
I can't explain how this adorable piece makes me feel. It reminds me of the time my friend Teresa saw my baby boy ( back in 1984) for the first time and said "look it's a little boy from boyland"
That's is just who this little guy is. You could offer me a million dollars for him and I wouldn't take it...The piece melts my heart
Enjoy

I have posted a number of blue mirrors on my site and I love them. I wonder if this is a Canadian piece as I found the best wall mirrors of the 40's - 50's which this may be part of, were Canadian. I have not seen this one before however. Quite wonderful.

Oh thank you..isn't it precious? I will look for yours. I've search for info and haven't found much..I rarely see them for sale and they are always the religious pieces

I had a big collection throughout the years, but the big ones were always my favourite and they are the true cobalt ones. A lot of the smaller religeous ones were of a lighter blue glass which doesn't look cobalt.

Is the little boy a true cobalt?

From a picture you cannot tell. When you look at the piece and turn the glass from different angles do you see a lighter blue colour or smoked colour? Most of the religious one are not, except the ones with Jesus on the cross, the big ones are usually. The picture of your certainly does, but sometimes you cannot judge by the photo. I have not seen this one ever before. Probably 4 or 5 inches or so in size ?

Hi and thank you for your help. Actually the piece is 12" by 8". I wish I had something in my hand to compare it with. I'm sure those that have one to sell will do their best to enhance it, I cant even tell you what the little boy is made with but is . It does have some chips and cracks

At that size (which I did not expect it to be) it usually is a cobalt blue piece. But if it doesn't look right it may not be.

Not look right in what way...do you mean the color? I wish I had a hands on piece to compare it with. Color on a computer tells us nothing

Cobalt blue colour kind of hits you when it is glass. The glass itself is not cobalt but add a mirror and that shade of glass gives you a real cobalt rush to your eyes. But most people probably would have to see the real thing to know. Sometimes at an antique show you may see a cobalt blue mirror even to display jewelry on. I had a 1930 birds eye cocktail cabinet with peach mirrors inside, you usually only see those on pieces of furniture.

It's dark blue. I have it on a table right now, not sure here to put it. I would think, here in the bright Florida sun it would look washed out but it's a deep blue.
I remember seeing these mirrors in old , old movies.....Too bad there isn't much on the internet about them
