I do not know the history except my Father got it from a museum in Santa Cruz, California. It hung in the family home for years. Would just like to know the history, brand, anything. Just curious...

The painting appears to be signed by Paul N Moran, what does it say around the perimeter of the painting, looks like copyright?

Banjo appears to be made by Dobson...The Dobson was the first production banjo to use what is now referred to as a "tone ring" on a banjo....That's the spun metal piece the painting is set into. A picture of the entire banjo would be helpful as I don't see it presented in your inquiry..Is it a 5 string or 4 string?..Go to the internet for the history of Dobson. There's a lot of it out there..
