My husbands mom had this, and we are curious if anyone knows more about it. I have never seen another like it as of yet.

Id like to know more about this machine, there is no name on it, and there are machining groves, the sewing needle is missing above the pressure foot.
I don't have a clue but I like these mechanical things. Thanks for posting it.

Yeah, more pics.. I'm not sure it is a sewing machine. Could be a considible or a rare identifit. No patent date or markings? Usually cast items like this have a patent date cast on the piece.
Looks to be a Charles Raymond "New England" type (it might be a Raymond or a copy), but seems to be missing some parts.
It's not a Singer, they never made a machine in this style :)
My husband said his mom said it was a Singer.. ya I wish I could find a marking on it.. Im pretty sure she used it, I will ask him when I get the chance. She did alot of sewing. But a lady come here and accidently cleaning threw the needle away. I do know it is very small. Ill add another pic.
ok he says now he doesnt know.. A relative had thrown it in a junk pile years ago, and his mom was so mad she went and dug it out.. Well in the process some attachments may have fallen off. It is so sad it was so unappreciated by some. And she didnt use it he says, but her mom did. I still love it but still havnt seen anything like it.
Maybe for sewing canvass or leather?

They were very small machines, for domestic sewing, the area between the needle and the pillar is only about 2 or 3 inches. They either have to sit on a heavy base or be clamped to a table. Not suitable for canvas or leather in general use. The style was used or copied by a few firms, these machines are not rare but far fewer produced than most Singers.

I have one like it, a James Weir machine, in my collection - slightly different but same idea :) They are not that hard to find, just unusual to people who haven't seen many antique machines. The one in the picture isn't in great condition and it's not complete, so it's hard for people to imagine how it should look.
