I just found this telephone today and vaguely remember them from the time frame I put in the title. It's called "Disco Phone" (too much). When I got it home , I plugged it in to one of the zillion but almost obsolete jacks in the house. I was happy it had a dial tone when I picked the receiver up but even more surprised when I called the number from my cell and as it was "tweeting" it's ring, little lights went on around the dial as it was ringing.
I'm not a fan of anything "made in China" but I love this thing. I'm a land line freak and have old ATT trimlines around my house...even my kitchen wall phone (remember them) is an old touch tone. I keep them more for show as the sound quality before we went digital is awful.

Thank you..I find the things I discover here are more kitschy fun than elegant. My county had the space program, and is now housing mostly defense plants and Patrick Air force Base. Here we have the few that probably have enough to buy gorgeous crystal but most are really hard working class people thus the " Disco Phone" or tons of old California pottery chicken spoon rests

You must have been sick to buy that phone! Sick with Saturday Night Fever! I can picture you and John T.!! Dancing around the Phone!!

Tora.. I worked the coat room of a very hot Long Island disco back then & those were some of the best times of my life. :-D
The 80s 90s were a great time for novelty phones. I vaguely remember when this phone was being sold... but I just can't get a good date on when it really came out. Of course I manage to find the stuff that seems like they are the only ones left on earth thus I have nothing to compare it with ( I'm lousy at searches, too)
