Yet another card from my Lankester collection of early 20th century postcards. This one is a Christmas card printed in Germany or Saxony for the London based firm R.T. & S. (Raphael Tuck & Sons).
Title: Wishing You A Happy Christmas
Artist: unknown
Publisher: R.T. & S.: Raphael Tuck & Sons London, Paris, New York.
"Artistic Series.
Publishers To Her Majesty The Queen
Designed at the Studios in England and printed at the fine Art Works in Germany. Copyright."
Year: unknown
Size: 11cm x 8cm (4.3" x 3.1")
Materials?: Paper, Ink, Gold lettering.
Description: It is a die cut card, embossed and gilded, very detailed in a baroque manner.
There are some age issues, stains, but looks nice overall.
Content created: The handwritten text is "With Love from Mrs Heriot."
Recipient of letter: Miss Maude Lankester.
R.T. & S.: Raphael Tuck & Sons began the business in October of 1866 at Union Street in Bishopsgate, London. They were a very popular card publisher. They did cards with Louis Wain's cats too! Wow!
