I don't have words enough to describe these beauties.
Another birthday present from my man some years ago.
I can tell you it really pays off to stay such a long time with the same guy :-)
He really has taste, I LOVE THEM!
They are solid silver with a small coral stone. The way they were made, they 'move' when I move. Some sort of 'tremblent' or something like that.
The only pity is: they are really heavy and every time I wear them my ears start to hurt after a little while!
I have tried to find more information on them (it says Karat ltd 925 on the back).
The 925 is silver content, but does anybody know anything about the other markings?
    Thanks a lot.

Update: thanks to Elisabethan we now know these earrings are probably chinese

Hey valentino97. I think its always difficult for a guy to give jewelry to his wife/girl. Especially if she knows so much about it. :-)

Now that you say it, I also see the Greek and oriental motifs in it. Never noticed that before. Art deco was after all an eclectic style.
      Thanks for your comment!

Thailand or Hong Kong was my first thought. Many jewelry makers in Thailand have a word Karat in their name spelled this way.

They are so unusual at first before I went to the full picture I thought they were a handle. To my surprise they ended up being earrings. Different.
    7. Newtimes Newtimes, 11 years ago
davyd286, I never thought about Thailand or Hong Kong. My first thought was Germany as its so close to where I live. But who knows, maybe you are right.
      Thanks for your comment.

Zowie, Im not very good at taking pictures. Thanks for loving them
    9. Newtimes Newtimes, 11 years ago
Aha, I asked my boyfriend and he says he got them from Germany.
That makes sense. Its very close to where we live (Belgium) and Karat sounds German.
Any advice on the maker would still be welcome!

The swirls I have seen in Mexican jewellry. But I don't know, the "Ltd" makes me think of the englishspeaking countrys. They are cool earrings.
    11. Newtimes Newtimes, 8 years ago
Hello Elisabethan, looking back at them, these swirls could just as well be chinese, dont you think? Could also be Mexican. Its a pitty, I dont wear these because they are heavy on the ear!
    12. Elisabethan Elisabethan, 8 years ago
I agree. It's a shame they are to heavy. I have some mexican earrings (chips) that I love but they are too big for my face. Would look elegant on somebody else. Can't part with them just yet :)

I ment to write "clips" :)

The way they are connected underneath looks very similar, don't you think? So you were on the right track....chinese.
    17. Newtimes Newtimes, 7 years ago
Elisabethan, thank you very much for your comment! This gives me a new lead.
I do have a similar-looking bracelet. I m pretty sure its repro and maybe at most 20 years old, tibetan silver with the same swirl pattern and ending in two dragon-heads. I did some research on the bracelet and its still being made and sold as 'antique' or 'old' on several sites, just like the link you found.
The bracelet In this link and mine do have the same swirls as my earrings, so indeed, my earrings could be Chinese. The movement they have and the material (silver) make me doubt they are as new as the bracelets though.

Agree, I was only looking at style and did not draw any conclusion to age :)

Elisabethan, thank you very much for your research! I never made the 'link' to my bracelet when I bought it :-)
