AS I LOOKED IN LNENICKOVA'S LOETZ II-1 FOR PATTERNS WHICH MIGHT FIT MY FEW SILBERIRIS PIECES, I WAS AGREEABLY SURPRISED WHEN I FOUND TWO OUT OF THREE., BUT UTTERLY FLABBERGASTED WHEN I FOUND TWO DISTINCT DECORS FOR THEM.

CRETA SILBERIRIS (PICS. 1-2)

AND

CRETA GOLDIRIS!

I HAD ALREADY NOTICED THAT SOME OF MY CANDIA SILBERIRIS HAD A DISTINCTIVE REDDISH CAST TO THE IRIDESCENCE, , AS OPPOSED TO THE USUAL BLUE CAST. IN FACT, IT REMINDED WMF'S "ROT" AND "BLAU" MYRA PIECES. SURE ENOUGH, MY TALL CRETA VASE DID SHOW IT. THUS: GOLDIRIS (PICS. 3-4)

ANOTHER SURPRISE: THEY DATE BACK TO 1910, SO THEY ARE ALREADY 103 YEARS OLD.
