Bodkin Antique Sterling Silver Repousse Ribbon Threader circa 1800's. Beautiful set in Excellent condition. Hallmarked Sterling. This set is for stringing / threading ribbon and elastic, and string through clothing and the like, a tool that is still used today. I can't tell you how many times I have lost strings in clothing items when they go through the laundry process. I can't tell my hallmmark who made this set . As you see it is very small and perfect for doll clothes too !
The widest piece measures - 2.70 in. in length and 0.811 in width
The medium sized piece measures - 2.65 in. in length, and 0.425 in width
The thinnest / narrow piece measures - 2.63 in. in length, and 0.235
A bodkin is designed to pull an item (such as elastic, ribbon, cording or drawstring) through a casing. The blunt point, sometimes a ball point, prevents the bodkin from piercing the fabric casing, while guiding the pulled through item, through the casing.
