I picked up this charcoal drawing a few months back from a friend who previously owned a large antique warehouse. She had him in back room because she didn't know what to do with him and he is very old and fragile. She showed them to me and I was fascinated, I wanted to know everything - age, artist, history, etc. She didn't know and wasn't too concerned, that wasn't her passion, she saw it was mine though and gave him to me....
He has been tucked away also with me because I'm almost afraid to move the paper, its brittle. There's no artist signature, but there is a stamp...I tried to read it...the bottom says "ARTIST" and I'm thinking the top is some sort of guild name...
Is anyone familiar with this particular pressure stamp?

Strathmore Artists....They manufacture specialty paper, art supplies, and have programs offering grants, etc. to aspiring artists....
BTW, where is the category for original drawings, lol? This is actually a chalk drawing...I think its beautiful, and amazing.

I have seen that thistle mark before but don't believe it had to do with art. Have me curious now. Think I saw it on things made of metal but I have CRS.
Thanks blunderbuss2, I was able do darken the picture just so and read part of the name and found the company. It's always interesting to me researching anything vintage.
