Manikin
(454 items)

This wonderful pin up :-) oops I mean mannequin would have been found in store windows , counter tops to advertise their item in a small size . They were invaluable during WWII when supplies and fabric was limited . They were working girls .
She stands a large 30 inchs tall and has removable arm to dress her .
She is modeling the girdle of the day . Oh I would not want to ever wear one but also has hooks to hold her nylons up . The maker is not always clear on these girls since several companies scuplted and produced them . Some put paper labels and some had their name on the stand she would be on. She has holes in bottom of shoes that long rods went up her leg which were attached to a heavy base , Gotta love the 40's :-)
This is NOT a doll but I did add her in that catagory also , she is a store display .

So here is the one you mentioned. Love her. Should have a category for your mannequins - which are not dolls.

Thank you Phil . Correct they are not dolls and no place to put them . They are window "mascots" :-) This is one I was cleaning up . The collection I mentioned to you I will be doing a article on since so little is known of the sculpter but her mannequins paved the way to others , she had a vision and very interesting life .
Thank you for the love xoxo

You're most welcome Sis, do you have to try & find a stand for her now?
  14. Manikin Manikin, 1 year ago
Bro I can make one but I never trust them the one's that have a rod up leg and stands on wood base can tip to easy and she is a big heavy girl . I have hundreds of stands I just have to locate a very large metal stand in attic that holds her up along with the wood one I will make . :-)

You can still find these in the Nevada desert within the nuclear test sites! And some damaged 50's furniture. LOL

zguy they used full sized human size mannequins not little one's like her . They did only do a few above ground blasts most were underground . I believe it is all cleaned up now :-)

It was a positive joke, love her. But she really does look like a nuclear test site mannequin. By the way, I am sure they did more than a few above ground experiments, but only a few were reported. They have an annual tour you can take of the test sites in Nevada if you are one of the lucky 36. There is still radiation floating around the nevada desert. Must have been some powerful experiments!

Thank you zguy :-) I am glad I was not part of the testing !
